Padmapada, is the famous disciple of Sri Adi Sankaracharya, in fact, his first disciple. He is also the author of the Pañcapādikā. This book chronicles the various events of his glorious life of dedication to knowledge, meeting his great Guru, various incidents connected with his life and his teachings. The 13th century text, based on a manuscript composed in Kerala and edited by Dr. K. V. Vasudevan, Reader in Sanskrit, Sri Krishna College, Guruvayur, is a hitherto unpublished work and is of both historical and poetic value.
