Composed in 1981, Chinmaya Aśṭottara Nāmāvali is a much-loved and much-used ode to the great Vedāntin and visionary, Swami Chinmayananda.Swami Tejomayananda (previous head of Chinmaya Mission worldwide) has now given expression to this Nāmāvali, by composing Chinmaya Nāmāmṛta Stotram.
During the Chinmaya World Workers’ Conference held in December 2012, Swami Tejomayananda gave four discourses based on the stotram. Each name is a thought-provoking lesson in Vedānta and life, and these indicate the great Master from three stand points, the absolute, the totality and the transactional.
While the Aśṭottara Nāmāvali and Nāmāmṛta Stotram are both known mainly to the Chinmaya family, the teachings found therein are universally applicable to all.
Chanting the names and contemplating on their meaning can invoke great peace and inspiration to live a life of beauty and truth.
